MEET LARRY

Born and raised in Refugio, Larry began his life of service early, working as a paramedic and volunteer firefighter before earning his business degree from the University of Houston and later a law degree from South Texas College of Law.


After college, Larry went on to build and lead companies across several industries, including advanced technology, power infrastructure systems, communications, and regulatory consulting. His career reflects decades of experience growing businesses, creating jobs, managing budgets, and solving complex challenges. That’s the exact experience he will put to work for the people of Polk County.

Larry and his wife, Amanda, a physician and medical school professor, fell in love with Polk County years ago, ultimately making it their permanent home. Today, they are making memories with their grandkids and are committed to strengthening the community they cherish.


Deeply invested in local service, Larry has been a longtime active member of the Scenic Loop Volunteer Fire Department and a dedicated supporter of first responders. He also owns and operates local businesses on Lake Livingston, helping grow our economy, create jobs, and enhance the quality of life for neighbors and families.


Larry Pfeil brings real-world business experience, conservative values, and a servant’s heart to the Commissioner’s Court. As County Judge, he will focus on public safety, economic development, infrastructure, and fiscal responsibility, keeping Polk County a safe, strong, and thriving community for generations to come.

Public Safety

Larry has served on the front lines as a firefighter and paramedic. He knows the system is broken. He’ll work to increase funding for fire departments, raise pay to stop the revolving door in law enforcement, and expand EMS to reduce response time in an emergency.

Economic Development

With new opportunities on the horizon, Larry is focused on making growth work for everyone. He’ll work to attract jobs, boost tourism, and expand the tax base without compromising the character of our communities.

Fiscal Responsibility

Polk County and the taxpayers are the number one priority. Larry will bring transparency, discipline, and real-world business sense to the job and get the priorities straight.

Roads & Infrastructure

From washed-out bridges to crumbling roads, too much of Polk County has been left behind. Larry will prioritize smart, strategic infrastructure upgrades, including critical utilities improvements, to keep families connected and our economy moving.
